The Edinburgh Kiltwalk

The Kiltwalk is a mass participation walking event, held annually in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dundee, and Aberdeen. It focuses on raising money for Scottish charities and projects, with the funds donated topped up by The Hunter Foundation, which was founded by philanthropist Sir Tom Hunter.
It was started in 2016, and by 2017, was allowing participants to walk for any Scottish charity of their choice, with The Hunter Foundation adding 40% to all fundraising. The Kiltwalk raises millions every year for a huge variety of Scottish charities, and has sponsorships from companies and Scottish celebrities alike.
In 2020, due to the Covid pandemic, the Kiltwalk's first virtual event took place instead of the Edinburgh Kiltwalk, with Sir Tom Hunter doubling the donations. This meant that 535 Scottish charities benefitted from a £2.6 million fundraising boost, much needed during such a troubling time.
In 2021, the Kiltwalk had its best year yet, with £8.4 million raised for 1,270 Scottish charities, even with another virtual Kiltwalk, with Kiltwalkers encouraged to take on their own walking, running, and jumping challenges in support of a Scottish charity close to their heart.
